Gov Ododo lauds troops for restoring peace in kogi community

The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring peace in Bagana and its environs while commending the military for restoring order.

Governor Ododo stated this on Monday during his inspection of areas affected by the crisis in Bagana, Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Bagana, once known as the commercial hub of Omala Local Government due to its proximity to the River Benue, served as a trans-border business haven. The community was also among the last to practice trade by barter, a system of exchange common in the f.com

However, due to ethnic differences, farmer-herder clashes, and other underlying conflicts, the once peaceful and heterogeneous community became a theatre of war.

Governor Ododo explained that his visit to Bagana aimed to verify reports that peace had gradually returned to the troubled zones in Omala.

“The last time I came here, about six months ago, I left in tears because of the level of destruction to lives and property. Today, I am happy to see the youth and women smiling again,” the governor said.gcom

While addressing the people of Bagana, Governor Ododo urged them not to allow selfish politicians to manipulate them and disrupt the peace returning to the area. He emphasized that the Bagana market remains a vital hub that brings people together, especially the poor, to practice trade by barter.
